Abstract

The aim of the present study was to examine whether oversexualisation levels differ among heterosexual and non-heterosexual women and men. The study involved 193 participants (73 heterosexual women, 44 non-heterosexual women, 36 heterosexual men, and 40 nonheterosexual men). The Overtsexualisation Questionnaire (KNS) and a sociodemographic survey were administered. The results indicated that non-heterosexual women reported higher levels of sexualised language and appearance. In turn, non-heterosexual men scored significantly higher across all three dimensions of oversexualisation. These findings suggest that sexual orientation moderates the level of oversexualisation depending on gender.
