Abstract

This year marks nine years since Black Monday, the first wave of mass protests in defence of reproductive rights, and five years since the unprecedented demonstrations following the Constitutional Tribunal’s decision, which effectively banned pregnancy termination in Poland. I want to return to these events to consider how they have influenced the understanding of democracy among the participants and their relations with the Polish state. The theoretical framework for this discussion will be provided by feminist theorists’ reflections on radical care. The empirical material analysed consists of diaries written in a feminist course at the Institute of Sociology of the Jagiellonian University.
