Abstract

A teacher doesn’t have to, but he/she can be a master. Then he/she has a great influence on his/her student’s work. That’s what our text is about, among other things. Professor Bożena Ewa Nowina-Sroczyńska was and is, without a doubt, a mistress for many people whose biographies have been associated with ethnography, ethnology and cultural anthropology in Łódź. In this article, we sketch her portrait through the prism of diploma theses, which she supervised for over three decades. We analyze their titles, identifying the transmission paths of “Ewa Nowina-Sroczyńska’s anthropological school”. We present memories of students who had the opportunity, as the last ones, to meet her during classes. In the academic year 2021/2022, Professor Ewa Nowina-Sroczyńska had the last classes in her career, which explains the first part of the title of our text – on the border.
