Stature and Body Weight of Farm Workers Born in the Years 1912-1960

In the years 1977-1978, in 7201 physical workers of State Farms, born in the years 1912-1960, the body weight and stature were examined. The studied subjects with an average stature (169.93 cm) are distinguished by a significant body weight (73.9 kg). A high body weight occurring in the investigated farm workers in the age above 29 years reveals an unfavourable tendency indicating that this early developed feature will be maintained at a rather high level as they become older.
The formation of the average stature in the period of 40 years gives on the average an increase of 2.33 cm per decade as the effect of the secular trend and at the same time of the socio-economic changes of the discussed farm workers. When we take into consideration the individual changes, then the pure effect of the trend is about 1.8 cm per decade.
