Rating of Book Fairs in Ukraine: Results of the Second Stage of Sociological Survey Carried Out in Kyiv

In order to investigate the book fairs participants’ attitude to such events and to use their potential with the professional purpose the second wave of sociological investigation was carried out in Kyiv. According to the survey of 44 respondents in 8 major cities in Ukraine, which carry on publishing, book business and printing activity, we defined a set of participants interests and needs, evaluation criteria and level of satisfaction. In particular, the subject of the investigation were: frequency, regularity and geography of participants, the main criteria for choice and evaluation of book fair, exhibitors’ purpose and main tasks, sources from which the participants got information about the fairs and preparation time for participation. On the base of evaluation the communicative, marketing, organizational components and exhibitors success has been formed an original rating of book fairs and exhibitions in Ukraine. Numerous practical advices to the participants and organizers of book fairs have been given for providing further competition and in order to create a successful book market.
