The article attempts to depict the organisation and functioning of the armed anti-communist underground in Pieszyce, a town of less than ten thousand inhabitants in Lower Silesia in the Dzierżoniów district. The author focuses on the activities of the group of second lieutenant Tadeusz Szymonik and the Polish Home Army, which existed in the years 1945–1951: its structure, forms of activity and achievements. The text presents the Security Office operations aimed at disintegrating the group and also the trials of its members, which resulted in severe sentences, sometimes involving several years in prison.
