Abstract

In the end of 19 – beginning of 20 centuries on the right bank of Ukraine are women’s religious communities created on the initiative of the Catholic Church. The most common among them are the monasteries of the order of the heart of the Virgin Mary, who had been in many cities of Wołynia and Podola. The society had the spiritual care of parishioners, arranged for young women sewing workshops, dormitories, homeless shelters. A characteristic feature of religious communities is the secret of initial Polish schools. This was due to the need to disseminate education and job conducting patriotic education.

At the beginning of the 20th century there are women’s mutual aid society under the patronage of the Catholic Church. As religious communities, they help women find jobs, cheap housing, receive social security in the event of loss of work, etc., these organizations also have cultural and educational work.

Women’s religious communities, under the tutelage of the Catholic Church, became part of the Polish women’s movement on the right bank of Ukraine. Not only do they unite women, but also provide them with the experience of collective action and the protection of their national and professional interests, understanding the usefulness of action to benefit society. The Polish women’s societies was to protect the interests of women and the Church.
