During World War II the Polish Navy lost direct contact with own demographic base, which turned out to be particularly noticeable when the new vessels leased from the Royal Navy entered service. The situation was particularly troublesome at the turn of 1941/42, while the training of new specialists took a lot of time. These unfavorable circumstances were expressed, among others, in the reports of the ship’s commanding officers. The source materials presented in the article document both the problems with replenishing the personnel in general, as well as the other dilemmas faced by the ship’s commanding officers in the field of training the crews how to operate the main combat systems.
