W proponowanym artykule zostaną przedstawione przesłanki pojawienia się „stacji górskich”, ich rodzaje oraz zmiany, jakie zaszły w ich sposobie funkcjonowania. Niektóre problemy teoretyczne i praktyczne zostaną przedstawione na przykładach z Europy, Ameryki Północnej, Azji i Afryki.
