Why did Recep Tayyip Erdoğan win the 2023 elections? Presidential claims to legitimacy

The point of the article is to analyze President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s narrative during election campaign in 2023 using the concept of claims to
legitimacy, conducted by Christian van Soest and Julia Grauvogel and a research team led by Marcus Tannenberg. The point of this article is to identify these claims using sources from the Republic of Türkiye Directorate of Communication (Türkiye Cumhuriyeti İletişim Başkanlığı) and state-owned agency – Anadolu Agency (Anadolu Ajansi). Author analyzed period from March 10 to May 28, 2023 – from the publication of the date of the elections to their outcome.
