Abstract

Sixty years after the publication of MARLEN HAUSHOFERS novel The Wall in German (1963), a Basque translation was published for the first time in 2023. This article argues that this is no coincidence; rather, it is attributable to the fact that the novel takes up the themes of feminism and environmentalism. They are also the central focal points of the Convivialist movement, which influences society in the Basque Country.

Naroa Zubillaga Gomez, Universität des Baskenlandes

Dr. phil., Studium der Übersetzungswissenschaft und des Dolmetschens an der Universität des Baskenlandes, Promotion zum Thema „Übersetzung deutschsprachiger Kinder- und Jugendliteratur ins Baskische” (2013). Dozentin im Bereich Übersetzen und Dolmetschen an der Universität des Baskenlandes. Bisherige Forschungsschwerpunkte: Übersetzung von Kinder- und Jugendliteratur, Corpuslinguistik im Bereich der Übersetzungswissenschaft und Übersetzung ins Baskische. Neben den wissenschaftlichen Veröffentlichungen hat sie auch literarische Werke aus dem Deutschen und Englischen ins Baskische übersetzt.
