Abstract

The novel Drei Kameradinnen (Three Comrades) was praised in the German feature pages primarily for its critical component of racism. It was sometimes implied that the novel was also about sexism. This article shows the extent to which intersectional deconstruction can be a means of analyzing post-migrant literature. For the analysis, the novel was examined for items that can be assigned to the categories ‘racism’, ‘sexism’ and ‘classism’. These were then clustered. In this way, strategies could be uncovered that reveal the intersectionality inherent in the novel and show how this affects the readers.

Sandra Binnert, Justus Liebig University Giessen

Sandra Binnert ist Doktorandin an der Arbeitsstelle Holocaustliteratur an der Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen. Das Promotionsprojekt trägt den Titel „Unterdrückte Narrative – zu Leben und Werk von Karl Gerber“. Seit 2023 ist sie an der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt am Main im ELLVIS-Projekt zur Internationalisierung der Lehre am Fachbereich Erziehungswissenschaften tätig. Ihre Forschungsschwerpunkte und -interessen sind die Holocaust- und Lagerliteratur, Biographieforschung, Literatursoziologie, Internationalisierung sowie feministische Literaturwissenschaft. Außeruniversitär ist sie Vorstandsmitglied des Literarischen Zentrums Gießen und dort vor allem in der Programmkommission tätig.
