About the Journal

Convivum. Germanistisches Jahrbuch Polen is an international, double-blind peer-reviewed academic yearbook dedicated to the study of German-language literature, culture and the German language from an interdisciplinary, primarily European but also international perspective.

The aim of Convivium is to promote a critical, open and socially engaged approach to German studies, grounded in dialogue between German-speaking countries, Poland, and the wider European community, while considering the broader global context.

The yearbook publishes German- and English-language articles on a thematic focus within the fields of linguistics/German as a Foreign Language (DaF) or literary and cultural studies, as well as on a broad range of German studies topics beyond the annual thematic focus. This also applies to the ‘Miscellany’ section. Furthermore, reviews are published that provide information on current trends in international German studies research. The conference reports provide an overview of significant academic conferences. Particular interest is shown in topics relating to German-speaking countries and comparative perspectives. Both historical and contemporary issues are considered.

Starting in 2027, the thematic focus will rotate between Literary and Cultural Studies and Linguistics/German as a Foreign Language (DaF). This rotation applies only to the thematic focus; both fields will continue to be represented in the journal.

All submitted manuscripts undergo double-blind peer-review by two subject experts. The list of international reviewers is updated on an ongoing basis. At present, articles are published free of charge.
