In 2025, Bulletin of the Section of Logic achieved a CiteScore of 1.0, placing the journal in the 70th percentile in the Arts and Humanities – Philosophy category.

What is CiteScore?

CiteScore is a citation impact metric. It is calculated by dividing the number of citations received by a journal over the past four years (including the year the score is reported for) by the number of documents published in that same four-year period. The 2025 CiteScore results cover citations and publications from 2022–2025.

CiteScore is a non-standardized indicator, meaning it does not account for differences between disciplines. Therefore, it should not be used to compare journals across different subject areas.

To assess a journal’s impact within its field, percentile values should be taken into account.

Place in the ranking

The relative standing of the journal in its specific subject field is indicated by percentiles calculated from the journal’s CiteScores. A journal can be evaluated in more than one discipline.

The 70th percentile for BSL means that the journal is ranked among the top 30% of philosophy journals indexed in Scopus.

1. Journal Citation Indicator (JCI) 2025

The Journal Citation Indicator 2025 value for BSL is 0.59.

What is the Journal Citation Indicator?

JCI uses data from the Web of Science Core Collection indexes. Contrary to Scopus’s CiteScore and Clarivate’s other tool: Journal Impact Factor, the JCI is a normalized metric. This means it accounts for differences between disciplines by comparing each article's citation count to the average citation count across all articles in the same subject area indexed in Web of Science. It also takes into account article age by using a three-year citation window. By evaluating citations of articles published in the same period, the JCI avoids favoring older journals that have had more time to accumulate citations.

Place in the ranking

According to the 2025 JCI, BSL ranks in the 61.46th percentile, the second quartile, in the Philosophy category.

2.  Journal Impact Factor (JIF) 2025

BSL’s Journal Impact Factor for 2025 is 0.6

What is the Journal Impact Factor?

JIF is a citation indicator is based on data from the Web of Science Core Collection indexes.

It reflects the ratio of citations received in the last year to articles published in the preceding two years, relative to the total number of articles published in that period.

Similar to CiteScore from Scopus, JIF does not adjust for disciplinary differences. As a result, the journal’s percentile and quartile rankings provide essential context for interpreting its value.

Place in the ranking

Based on the 2025 JIF, BSL ranks in the 46.3rd percentile and falls within the third quartile for "Logic."
