Abstract

In 2023, at the initiative of the residents of Prusinowice, pilot field research was carried out, with the aim of, among others, collecting basic information on selected elements characterising the demographic and social structure of rural residents. Out of just over 110 households living in Prusinowice, we managed to obtain surveys from 65 households, which constitutes approximately ⅔ of their total number. The presented demographic and social characteristics of Prusinowice refer to the answers provided only by some of the village’s inhabitants, but the number of obtained surveys allows drawing conclusions regarding the entire community of this village. A number of socio-demographic features of Prusinowice are typical of many rural settlement units in Central Poland. This is due to the low birth rate and the disappearance of multi-generational family structures, the rising level of education of the population, and the decreasing role of agricultural activity as the main source of income for rural residents.
